Pianist / Accompanist
Janet Davis is a Charter Member of CBF. She played piano for the Charter Service and
soon after became both pianist and organist. That was over 50 years ago, and she is still playing strong. Prior to CBF she was the organist for Boulevard Baptist Church in Springfield, Missouri.
Janet’s favorite Bible verse is: “They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” (Isaiah 40:31 – KJV)
Janet holds a Ph.D. in English Language and Literature from the University of Maryland.
She was also awarded an M.A. in English and a B.S. in Education (cum laude) by Missouri State University. She was awarded a Fulbright Fellowship in English.
Janet has authored a number of publications including For the Love of Literature: A
Survey of Fiction and For the Love of Literature: Reading and Writing Non-Fiction. Both books were published by Pearson/Prentice Hall.
Janet’s career was in education. At the college level, she taught English at the
Baltimore International College, at Missouri State University, and at the University of
Maryland/USAFE, in Hanau, Germany. At the secondary school level, she taught Gifted
and Talented courses in English in Baltimore County, Maryland, where she served as
Department Chair and was the Artistic Director for plays and musicals. She also taught
at Firth Park Comprehensive School in Sheffield, England, and in the Springfield
(Missouri) public school system.
Finally, Janet’s biography is included in Who’s Who in America, she is a member of the
Century Traveler’s Club (having visited over 100 countries), and she is a Lifetime Member of the Conway Twitty Fan Club, showing her love of country music.
