about INTERFAITH HANDS
In 2019, Columbia Baptist Fellowship expanded its food outreach to support families in the Oakland Mills community. Under Pastor Andrew James’ leadership, the ministry grew from serving 50 families a month to 200 families. Recognizing the growing need for food security in 2020, Interfaith Hands was born. This initiative brought together all the congregations of the Oakland Mills Interfaith Center—Columbia Baptist Fellowship, Bet Aviv, Columbia Jewish Congregation, OMI Green Team, St. John’s Catholic Church, and Kingdom Faith Ministries. Each congregation provided financial support, volunteers, and unwavering commitment to packing and distributing food to hundreds of families monthly. Since its inception, Interfaith Hands has served more than 50,000 families. What began as a ministry of Columbia Baptist Fellowship has grown into a collaborative effort far beyond the capacity of one congregation. Together, as a united interfaith community, we provide not only fresh food but also dignity and hope to those facing food insecurity.
